CPC / AFTER CALCINATION

Calcined petroleum coke

Calcined petroleum coke is produced by heating selected green petroleum coke at high temperature. Calcination removes moisture and residual hydrocarbons and increases density, creating a carbon raw material for industrial applications.

Where it is used

Aluminium production

A key raw material for carbon anodes consumed during electrolytic aluminium production.

Steelmaking

Suitable grades are used as carbon raisers to adjust the carbon content of steel.

Titanium dioxide

Used as a carbon raw material in the production of titanium dioxide, a pigment widely used in coatings and other products.

Specialty carbon products

Selected grades undergo further processing into electrodes and other carbon or graphite products. These applications require specific feedstock properties.

Choosing the right grade

The required grade depends on the end use. Anode material, metallurgical carbon and specialty carbon products each have their own quality criteria.

  • Fixed carbon
  • Sulphur
  • Ash
  • Moisture
  • Volatile matter
  • Metals
  • Real density
  • Particle size
